Become an APL Member

Discover the different types of APL membership below

Accredited Member

Accredited membership is suitable for landscaping businesses whose owners have been trading for at least two years. You'll have access to the full range of services and advice available from the APL including:

  • A regular inspection to assure your customers that your work is of the highest standard. (Online and Site)

  • Trustmark accreditation (a government-endorsed standard).

  • The opportunity to showcase your projects at the APL Awards.

  • A listing on our consumer website and much more...

Pre-Accredited Member

If you haven't been trading for two years, Pre-Accredited membership can help your business by providing you with advice and support. Your Subscription would include:

  • A business, legislative, HR and health and safety inspection.

  • A written report with advice and templates to aid compliance.

  • Regular assessments to monitor your progress.

  • A logo specific to this category.

  • Access to Cluster meetings.

Garden Designer Member

Garden designers have their own category within the APL. You must show you are either suitably qualified or experienced and hold the appropriate insurances. You must also supply drawings, images and all relevant paperwork of two projects which are assessed by an APL panel. 

Your Subscription will include:

  • A listing on The APL website as a designer.

  • A specific logo and car sticker.

  • One free entry to the APL Awards. (Pen entry)

  • Access to the APL membership and resource

  • Access to Cluster meetings.

Professional Gardener Member

Professional Gardeners have been overlooked for accreditation for many years. The APL has negotiated a deal with Trustmark and now can offer:

  • Trustmark accreditation (a government-endorsed standard at no extra charge).

  • A listing on The APL website, The Trustmark website and use of our logos.

  • A business, legislative, hr and health and safety inspection with a written report containing advice and templates to aid compliance.

  • Access to APL Cluster meetings.

  • Professional gardeners will have to have traded for a minimum of two years, hold public liability insurance and be trading below the VAT threshold.

  • Gardeners trading above the VAT threshold will be applicable for Accredited Professional Gardener membership, which includes HTA membership for free.

Associate Member

Do you supply goods or services to landscapers? By becoming an APL Associate member, you'll have access to our landscapers through events and seminars and you'll receive preferential rates for advertising in our publications.

Student Member

If you are currently studying landscaping or garden design, you are eligible for free student membership of the APL. You'll receive an e-newsletter once a month which will provide insight into the landscaping industry.
